Reason: Boloria myrina tollandensis is a specialist butterfly with an extremely small range. It has an Extent of Occurrence of just 6,565km2 but has an extremely specialized habitat which gives it a much smaller Area of Occupancy of just 9 cells. Furthermore the butterfly is only known from nine occurrences and faces a laundry list of threats including climate change, fire, grazing, and water use issues. As a result, this butterfly is currently assessed as S1 in New Mexico. However, a reassessment should be done if more information becomes available.
