Reason: <em>Cochylis yinyangana</em> is a moth in the family Tortricidae, that is endemic to the northern Chihuahuan Desert, in New Mexico and Texas, United States. It has been recorded very few times, though survey effort in the region has been minimal. Based on known occurrences, the estimated Extent of Occurrence (EOO) and Area of Occupancy (AOO) could be as little as 5,586 km<sup>2</sup> and 7 km<sup>2</sup>, respectively. These numbers may increase if increased survey effort reveals new additional occurrences. All of the locations for this species which are likely impacted independently from the main threats of pollution caused by oil and gas development, increased incidence of drought in the region, and habitat instability due to groundwater drawdown. Continuing decline is also inferred for this species, due to these threats. Therefore, until additional information is available, this poorly understood species is assessed as S1 in New Mexico.
