| Reason: <em>Plagiomimicus astigmatosum</em> is a moth in the family Noctuidae, found in southern New Mexico. It has been recorded very few times, though survey effort in the region has been minimal. Based on known occurrences, the estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) could be as little as 1,964 km2 and 5 km2, respectively. These numbers may increase if increased survey effort reveals new additional occurrences. Four occurrences are considered for this species, each representing a known locality. Each occurrence is likely independently impacted by the inferred threats of increased drought, invasive species, and grazing pressure. Continuing decline in habitat quality is also inferred for this species, due to the potential impact of these threats on host plant availability. Therefore, until additional information is available, this poorly understood species is assessed as S1 in New Mexico. |
