Reason: This species is known from a very small and dry geographic area of New Mexico. As a riparian species Leonora's Dancer needs available water which is currently highly threatened in the area due to water diversion, drought, and grazing. As a result, there is a continuing decline in the extent and quality of this species habitat inferred. Furthermore, this threat may be able to quickly effect all of the species known range in New Mexico as it exists in just ten occurrences and has an low Extent of Occurrence of just 160km2 as well as a low Area of Occupancy which is just 13km2. As a result, this species is currently assessed as S1 in New Mexico. However, a reassesment should be done if more information becomes available.
