| Reason: With no observations since 1969 despite several attempts to locate this species including in known former locations there is some major concern for this species. There are several threats to the species including erosion. livestock grazing, water use, recreation, climate change and drought that may be responsible for the species no longer being found in its historical localities. Furthermore, the species has a very small geographic range which allow threats to quickly effect either a large portion or the entire species range. Additionally, this species was recently petitioned for federal listing on the endagered species act and a 90 day petition found that the petitioned was warranted and advanced the species to canidacy. As a result, this species is currently assessed as S1 in New Mexico. |
