Reason: This species is geographically limited in New Mexico to the Gila Region. This is a large and protected area however, this species has somewhat specific habitat limitations which give it a much smaller Area of Occupancy and number of occurrences. The species is also threatened by drought, climate change, fire, and overgrazing all of which are rampant in the Gila. As a result, this poorly known species is currently assessed as S2 in New Mexico. However, a reassesment should be done if more information becomes available.
