Reason: This species is only known from two occurrences very close to each other along the Gila river in southwestern New Mexico. This gives the species an Extent of Occurrence and Area of Occupancy potentially as low as 2km2 although this is likely understated as the area is under surveyed due to its inaccessible nature. The species also faces a large number of threats although it is insulated from some of these threats due to the fact that its entire distribution exists in the Gila wilderness. However, climate change and drought are still two major unmitigated threats to the species and as a result it has an inferred continuing decline in the extent and quality of its habitat. Due to all of the species is currently assessed as S1 in New Mexico however, a reassessment should be done if more information becomes available.
